RED CROSS SOCIETY
WORK IN NOARUAWAHIA FORMATION OF SUB-CENTRE A sub-committee of the Red Cross Society was formed at a meeting held in the Town Hall, Ngaruawahla, yesterday. The Mayor, Mr H. Eyre, presided and representatives were present from the Ngaruawahla Borough Council, the Women's Oivision of the Farmers' Union, Women's Institutes, church organisations, the Returned Soldiers’ Association, schools and the Hopu Hopu camp. Princess Te Puea represented the Maori people, and local chemists and hospital staffs attended. An outline of the work being done and the objects of Lire society was given in an address by Mr R. Clialllner, organiser for the Waikato, and Princess Te Puea announced that she would arrange a garden party to raise funds. Those present joined the society and are now arranging to make garments. The following ofllcers were elected: —Patron: Mr R. Eyre; patroness, Mrs Eyre; president, Mrs R. D. Duxlleld; secretary and treasurer, Mrs F. M. Tarplett.
