COURAGE IN WAR
CONFIDENT OF VICTORY WAIKATO HOSPITAL’S PLEDGE MESSAGE FROM CHAIRMAN In an inspiring message delivered at the meeting of the Waikato Hospital Board to-day, the chairman, Mr F. Findlay, expressed confidence In Britain’s ability to reach victory In the struggle against Nazi aggression. He pledged the Waikato Hospital Board and Its staff to give every possible assistance to the Government of New Zealand. Mr Findlay said: “I think something should be said about the position our country is in to-day. I am sure that, it is with sad hearts that we find ourselves at war again with Germany. I consider that the British Parliament did everything that was humanly possible to avert war, but those efforts were without success. “Having had war forced upon us, I am confident that the soldiers, sailors,
and airmen of Britain and the Empire will give a good account of themselves. We shall need all our qualities, every quality which I believe Britain and her people possess, in displaying prudence in counsel, daring in action, tenacity of purpose, courage in defeat, moderation in victory, and, above all, faith in God fn a just cause. “We have been asked by the Government lo take our part in any emergency that might arise. I think I have done the right thing in pledging to the Government on behalf of the people of the Waikato, the board and the staffs of all our hospitals, our best service in the emergency. Ultimate Victory “With all my heart I believe in one thing, that is, be this struggle long or short, the people can await with confidence ultimate victory in our cause.”
