Sel- j dom have belter quality entries been ■ : seen at a bull lair in the Waikato, and ; j both as regards individuality and I breeding there was little to be de- • ; sired. The majority of entries had a wealth of hutterfat backing behind ! them and this proved a factor in the ! i keen tone of the market throughout i j the sale. The entry was representative of 53 ! I of the leading studs of the Dominion j I buyers being given an unusual oppor- ; j tunity of acquiring quality sires ol i ! some of the country's most famous ' producing strains. The bulls were j j brought forward in excellent condition, and betore being led into the sale ring had to pass a rigorous examination by the inspection committee. The auctioneers were Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Go., Ltd., with Messrs J. Broad and J. T. McGaw in the rostrum, with Mr H. P. , Toose, of the stud stock department * of the company, as sales manager. The sale concluded today, when , the remainder of the 190 bulls cata- r logued were offered. Mr T. Wardlaw’s Top Purchase J The top price of the day, HO gns, was paid by the Waimana breeder, j Mr T. Wardlaw, for Xoku Wanderer, an outstanding two-year-old by Golden Wanderer -from the V.H.C. cowMeon Xoku. The vendor was Mr ! Truby King, of New Plymouth. This young bull is royally bred on both sides of his pedigree, having a paternal grandsire in the champion butterfat bull, Vagabond of Oaklands (imp.), and a maternal grandsire ,in another great imported bull, Brampton Dreaming Sam, sire of 12 V.H.G cows with an average of 605 lb fat. For Pinecrest You’ll Do, an attractive two-year-old by the champion butterfat bull, Pinewoods Silver Lad and from the high-producing Cyrilla’s Twylish Girl, H.G., C.O.H. 1023 lb fat at 11 years, .a North Auckland buyer, Mr A. Pettn&m, of Rawene, gave 87J gns. The vendor was an Inglewood breeder, Mr EL J. Clough. Another North Auckland breeder, Mr E. Parker, of Kaitaia. was the last bidder at 86 gns on Waipiko Ivanhoe, one of the attractive individuals of the consignment from Mr C. G. C. Dernier, of Cheltenham, FeUding. Mr Parker s purchase was by Waipiko Anchor and out of Lea Rig Idalia's Saucy, H.C. A particularly well-bred two-year-old in Norman Baron, by Baron Rupert and from the outstanding producer, Ivondale Silver Rainbow, H.C.. C.O.R. 950 lb fat at 3 years, took the bidding to 77J gns when it was knocked down to Messrs Warman Bros., of Katikati. The New Plymouth breeder, Mr Truby King, was the vendor. For 71 gns a Te A warn utu buyer, Mr W. D. Bethune, was Uie final bidder on a yearling submitted by Mr C. G. C. Dermer, Waipiko Joy Victor, by Waipiko Victory from Waipiko Joy Oueen, H.C. Seventy guineas secured for Mrs H Cruller, of Whangarei, a four-year-old bull, Bokaboa Conqueror, by Bokaboa Goldmine from Waipiko Cosette, H.C., C.-O.R. 867 lb fat at 4 years The vendor was Mrs H. Such loan together with interest thereon at the rate of four pounds live shillings (£4 5s Od) per centum per annum to be repaid to the lenders by equal aggregate annual or halfyearly instalments extending over a term of 25 years and to be secured by an annually recurring Special rate of 3/200ths of a penny in the pound on the ratable (unimproved) value of all ratable property in the County of Waipa.
