PROGRESS AT GLEN DAVIS •Steady progress toward the production of oil from shale deposits here >s being made, reports the Lithgow Mercury (Australia). The cracking plant has arrived from If.S.A. and is now in Glen Davis awaiting erection. Meanwhile the power house erection and boilers are well under way of construction. The power house will he fitted with Beilis and Morcomb high-speed reciprocating engines of 688 h.p., whiie steam will he supplied by John Thompson water and tube boilers. The exhauster house is also being erected. Rootes blowers have been installed and will operate with the retorts and condensing plant. Meanwhile, the retorts are slowly but surely assuming shape and size. In the very near future two houses, comprising eigiit retorts, should be completed. in the machine shop litters, turners, machinists, oxy and electric welders are busily engaged preparing and assembling the various sections of machinery required for the industry. Tradesmen of all classes, including carpenters, miners, ironworkers, welders, litters, turners, boilermakers and many others are engaged on the field, hence tlie importance of keeping the industry working.
