NATIONAL SHOW TO=DAY PRELUDE TO BULL FAIR LARGE REPRESENTATIVE ENTRIES With IDO entries representative of 53 of the leading studs of Taranaki, Manawatu, North and South Auckland, Waikato, Wairarapa, Horowhenua. King Country, Poverty Bay, Bay of Plenty and Nelson districts, the J Tlll annual National Jersey Show was held at. the 'Clau-delands Showgrounds this ■morning. The show was a prelude to the annual bull fair at which the big entry of bulls, including the championship winners, were submitted to auction before a large bench of buyers, which was representative of all North Island districts. The quality of the bulls on show this .morning was of a high standard, and difficulty was sometimes experienced by the judges in separating the placed animals. On both breeding and individuality, Iho entry was the best yet offered at ■the national sale, and buyers were presented wit’ll a unique opportunity of acquiring sires of outstanding merit. The sale will conclude tomorrow, when buyers will be offered a total of DO bulls, which on lnltterfat hacking and individuality should be attractive buying. The judges were Messrs \V. 11. Mlers, H. Moreland (Waikato), C. G. C. Dernier (Feilding) and H. J. Lancaster (Manawatu). All commented upon the general excellence of the entry, stating that It compared more than favourably with the entries of ■previous shows. BIG SALE OPENS PRICES TO 110 GUINEAS The big bench of buyers operated keenly for the early lots in tile catalogue" prices for the tops in the opening sales ranging from 50 to 110 gns. and the flrst 30 bulls sold averaging 31 gns. Bidding was not slow’ to start on Noku Wanderer, a two-year-old by Golden Wanderer from Meon Noku, V.H.U., and submitted by Mr Truby King, of New Plymouth. It was eventually sold to Mr T. Wardlaw, of VVaimana, at 110 gns. The well-bred two-year-old son of Pinewood’s Silver Lad and Cyrilla’s Twylish Girl, H.C., Pinecrest You'll Do brought the bidding to 871 gns., when it was knocked down to Mr A. Pettman, of Rawene, North Auckland. The vendor was Mr E. J. Clough, of Inglewood. Seventy guineas was given by Mrs Craller for Bokaboa Conqueror, an attractive four-year-old submitted by Mrs J. Larsen, of Cheltenham. Santa Rose Last Hope, who had been awarded the grand championship ribbons In the morning, was sold on account of Mr J. A. Mitchell, of Longburn, to Mr W. Mears, of Walton, at 65 gns. Several other bulls were traded at figures above 60 gns. Championship Ribbons The judges awarded the grand championship ribbons to Santa Rosa Last Hope, the outstanding two-year-old son of Santa Rosa Great Rope and the imported h.c. cow, Volunteer's April Lady. This great young hull was shown by Mr J. A. Mitchell, of Longburn. The reserve champion was Ku Ku Royal Highness, shown by Mr \V. P. Begg, of Northern Wairoa, the show-winning son of the imported sire, Les Niemes Emperor, and the imported v.h.c. cow, Sybil’s .Majesty s Pride. Santa Rosa Last Hope was also the two-year-old champion, while Ku Ku Royal 'Highness gained the senior championship ribbons. ■ The reserve two-year-old champion was Waipiko lvanhoe, shown by Mr G. G. G. Licrmer, of Cheltenham, and the reserve senior champion Caravan Marquis, exhibited by Mr C. Ulemow, of Slratford. Mr C. G. G. Dermer’s Waipiko Joy Sailor was the yearling champion, the reserve honours going to another of Mr Dermer’s entry in Waipiko Courage. Class results: — Four-year-olds.—■ Ku Ku Royal Highness, W. P.
