WRESTLING BOUT
MoCREADY AGAIN TO MEET PAUL JONES Wrestling enthusiasts in the Waikato district will have an opportunity ntx* Ttiursd&v Bight of renewing their acquaintance with Earl MoCready, th# British Empire champion ana * prime favourite with ail New Zdu.and followers of the sport. Mc-Jrcady’f return lo the Hamilton ring *• of special significance in view of the fact that he will be pitted against Paul Jones, the hook-scissors expert from Texas, and one of the finest inalmen who have ever entered the ring. McCreadj's special qualities, which he has demonstrated in evory one of his bouts in this country, now numbering approximately 15u, arc fut«y recognised by this time, and it k. generally appreciated that only an opponent of exceptional qualifications can hope to beat him. That McCready shornd now be in the course of his fourlh season in the Dominion and drawing bigfc r er crowds than ever is perhaps the finest tribute that could be paid to his ability to please all followers of the sport. The question of w-hether Jones or McGready should have priority on international ranking lists has been the subject of considerable comment by Jones who contends that those lists which place hirn below the Canadian do not fairly refiect his ability and he is anxious to prove this to the satisfaction of the looai public. Jonos* Qualification* Jones has been prominently ranked almost the whole time he lias been wrestling as a professional and lias several times gone extremely close to realising his ambition to win the world title. He lias beaten John l’esrk, drawn with Tony Steelier, and beateu almost all the npMT’who have held the world titlewfrfu* then, though never, u-nfortjjiMftuy. while they have actually been"in possession of the championship. Jones is an extremely versatile wrestler and his specialty, the hookscissors, is one of the most effective flail-winning measures known to fhe sport. Jones is primarily a wrestler of the orthodox style but he has adapted himself readily to the modern style and his rugged tactics give rise to much excitement.
