The meeting expressed unanimous agreement with the Government’s desire that, with such modifications only as necessities of war demand, the Centennial should be fittingly and adequately celebrated, and decided to cirry on with their plans. WELBH GUARDS BAND CANCELLATION OF VISIT (By Telegraph.—Pres* Association) WELLINGTON, Tuesday The Welsh Guards Band will not come to play at the Centennial Exhibition. The general manager of the exhibition, Mr <J. P. llainsworth, said today that information to this effect had been by cablegram from London. Mr Hainsworth said it was considered that the next best thing was to encourage local talent, «nd the scheme that would probably be adopted would be that the be6t bands throughout the Dominion would be invited to play ait various times and on special occasions.
