Copyrig-bi) SYDNEY, Sept. 11 As the result of his great effort in the Chelmsford Stakes at Randwick on Saturday, the New Zealand colt Beau Vite has ousted High Caste from favouritism for the Australian Derby and has been made a joint favourite with Defaulter for the Melbourne Cup. Royal Chief now shares favouritism for the Metropolitan Handicap with Cooranga. The -Sydney Morning Herald says; “ Beau Vite proved himself a colt possessing stamina and great determination, two necessary attributes for a Derby candidate.” Commenting on Royal Chief's display in the Chelmsford Stakes, the Herald says: “Royal Chief won the Metropolitan Handicap at Randwick last year and seems to have every chance of repeating the performance.”
