A GERMAN SALIENT SUCCESS OF FRENCH TROOPS SEVERAL TOWNS OCCUPIED (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) ('Received Sept. 11, 3.15 p.m.) NEW YORK, Sept. 10 The Basle (Switzerland) correspondent of the American Press says the French forces in the Saar are reported (o have resumed their attack shortly after daybreak and pushed within a range of the automatic arms of the main Siegfried forts, qnuer three miles separating them from the forts at some points. It is also reported that the French are moving into action in the Vosges foothills. The French occupy the towns of Lauterbacli, Bisten, and Berus and the villages of Carlsbrunn, St. Nikolaus and Überherrn, with the German salient between the Roscl and Bist Creeks, west and south from Saarbrucken, wiped out. The line at present appears to run parallel with the Saar river, northwest from the Forbach area, turning west near Merzig and joining the old fonticr near Apach.
