PUTTING AN END TO VIOLENCE LABOUR LEADER’S MESSAGE (By Telegraph.—press Association) WELLINGTON, Sunday The following message has been sent by Mr Arthur Greenwood, actingLeader of the Opposition in Great Britain, to the New Zealand Labour Party:—“ln this dark hour of common struggle British Labour sends its fraternal greetings to Labour in New Zealand. We, like you, have promptly and unhesitatingly taken our stand as a part of a united British Commonwealth in the grim struggle against the latest act of Nazi aggression. “The common peoples of many lands have been hurled into cruel conflict by Hitler in furtherance of his ambitious aims at domination and conquest. His responsibility is criminal, his excuse a lie. With firm resolution and without passion we have accepted his brutal challenge. ‘‘We are animated by a single and steadfast purpose. It is to put a final end to methods of violence and the use of force to achieve national purposes, to restore the rule of law among the nations, to make secure the liberty of the peoples, and to usher in a new order of peace and justice for all. These are our common aims. In their full realisation lies the one sure hope for the security and happiness of the peoples of the world.”
