Copyright) LONDON, Sept. 9 Owing to the raising of the ban on sporting fixtures in certain areas, the New Zealand Rugby League team was able to continue its tour today. The visitors defeated Dewsbury by 22 points to 10. The honours of the first half of the game went to Dewsbury, which was strong in the scrummages, and repeatedly gained possession, compelling the. New Zealanders to spend their time chasing the other side. Dewsbury just about deserved its twopoint lead at the interval. Hemi levelled the scores with a magnificent goal from near the touch line. He kicked with prodigious length and fine judgment. Solomon •and Kay did capital work, which was countered by the clever offensive methods of Hunter, Nicholson and Higgins. The New’ Zealanders played a storming game, and both sides distinguished themselves with their speed and skill. Dewsbury vigorously rallied, but Solomon relieved a hot attack on the New Zealand line. Smith’s superb run for a try was one of the best features of the game, but Wood similarly replied for Dewsbury. Beadle scored a try for the visitors after a forward rush and Hemi converted. Wood scored for Dewsbury. but Jermaine failed to convert. Kay added a further try for New Zealand and Hemi converted, the latter repeating the performance after •Leatherbarrow’ had crossed the home team’s line. Dewsbury secured two goals and two tries against New Zealand's five goals and four tries. The takings totalled £430. The attendance was 5000.
