HUNT CLUB FIXTURE EVENTS AT FENCOURT (Special from “Mairtian”) FENCOURT, Saturday Ideal weather conditions prevailed for the annual point-to-point fixture of the Waikato Hunt Club on Mr A. J. Swayne’s property at Fencourt this afternoon, when the various events excited keen competition. Concluding results;— OPEN STEEPLECHASE (About 2i miles) Miss P. Gorrie’s WHISTLING RUFUS (Mr E. Keyte) 1 Mr N. Banks Jnr's GORDAN (Owner) 2 Mr W. E. Thompson's LUCIDUS (Mr A. Yarndley) 3 Also started: Bass, British Lass, Worthy King, Record Flight, Drag Hunt, Te Puroa, Absent and Dialogue. The race provided a stirring tussle by Whistling Rufus, Cordan and Lucidus, Whistling Rufus staying on better than his companions to score a meritorious success. Cordan led early from Lucidus and Whistling Rufus, with Bass bringing up the rear. At the completion of a round, Cordan and Lucidus were showing out from Drag Hunt, British Lass, Whistling Rugus and Worthy King. Cordan and Lucidus were on terms at the half-mile but a little further on Whistling Rufus had run up behind Cordan and the pair came into the straight in front of Lucidus and British Lass. In a fine finish Whistling Rufus wore down Cordan to beat him by one and a-half lengths, with Lucidus some four lengths away. British Lass was fourth, and then came Drag Hunt and Te Puroa. Time, 5.20. MEMBERS LIGHTWEIGHT RACE About 2i miles Miss G, Scott’s JAGKO (Mr C. Steele) 1 Mr T. P. Cote’s CLIPPER (Mr J. R. Ranstead) 2 Mr A. W. Marshall’s SIROCCO (Mr W. A. Cole) 3 Also started: Dictun, Wild Wings, Suburb, Arch-co, Dustman. Jacko, left in undisputed command when Arch-co lost his rider half a mile from home, scored a decisive win. Early Arch-co and Dictun were racing on terms and with a round to go tWis pair was followed by Jacko, Sirocco and Clipper. Dictun lost his rider at the lialf-mile and Jacko was left clear of Clipper, Sirocco and Suburb. Nothing iiad a chance with Jacko in the final stages and he won easing up by half a dozen lengths from Clipper with Sirocco a moderate third. Then came Suburb and Dustman. Time, 5.27.
