GAOL FOR YOUTH OF 17
DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED PARTY DESCRIBED AS DRUNK (By Telegraph—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Saturday A youth of 17 was to-day sent to gaol for a fortnight for being intoxicated while in charge of a motor-ear. He was William Bennett, described as a labourer. It was stated there were three in the car, two youths and a girl. When Constable Kerr went to the car the girl was leaning out of the door and the other youth was asleep. Accused himself was so drunk that he had to hold on to the constable to prevent himself from falling. A sub-inspector, outlining the facts, said the whole party were drunk—not intoxicated, drunk.
Accused had his license cancelled and was prohibited from obtaining another for 12 months.
