PLANE CRASH
AIRMEN’S NARROW ESCAPE POWER LINES SEVERED (By TelegTapn.—Press Association) INVERCARGILL, Sunday An aeroplane struck a 66,000-volt power line as it was coming in to land at the Invercargill aerodrome late yesterday afternoon and the two occupants had a miraculous escape. ITad the wires crossed or bad the machine touched two wires both the pilot and his passenger must have been electrocuted. The pilot was Mr F. Weymouth, of Dunedin, a member of the Otago Aero Club, one of whose aeroplanes he was flying. The passenger was Mr T. Morrison, also of Dunedin. Neither was injured and the aeroplane was only slightly damaged. Three -spans of line, 500 yards altogether, were torn from the poles and cut the power off from most of Southland for three hours.
