Copyright) SYDNEY, June 4 The flying-boat Guba left Rose Bay ut 3.45 p.ru. yesterday for Townav.Uc on the first stage of the expioraluiy Indian Uczau flight. From Townsville the Guba flew north to the vicinity of Cloncurr}, Queensland, from where she set a direct course lor Port Hedland, Western Australia, 2000 miles from Sydney, where she arrived to-day. During the flight across Australia, which was made null-slop, intense cold was experienced, the temperature failing; to well below zero. Turbulent air conditions were reported on Lhe first part of the flight to Cocos Island, but later smooth air was experienced. Copyright* LONDON, June 3 The first of the Armstrong Whitworth Ensign air liners, fitted with improved Tiger engines, will be delivered to Imperial Airways next week. After that it is expected that the remaining 13 Ensigns will he delivered at a rate of one a week. These aircraft, in which the oontrols have been made to work mure easily, will have at their service an extra 220 horse-power for the takeofT. It is proposed to try American Wrght-Gyclone cogues In the same aircraft.
