HAWKINS —HOWLETT GLITTER SATIN' GUWN The marriage was solemnised at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Ciaudelands, uii the morning of May ”23, between Phyllis Madge, daughter ol‘ the late Mr and Mrs 'R. G. liowiett, Hamilton, and Richard Thomas, youngest son of Mr and Mrs Penn Hawkins, Bruadwood, North Auckland. The Rev. 11. G. Gilbert performed the ceremony and Mr E. 11. Apthorp presided at the organ. The bride, who entered the church with her brother, Mr G. K. Hewlett, of Rotorua, wore a beaulifui gown of ivory glitter satin cut, on slender classical lines. The skirt was lilting to the knees, and Hared to form a long oval train, the bodice being arranged with a high neckline with a small stand-up collar at the back. The front of the frock was finished with tiny buttons from flie neck to the hemline, and the sleeves were gathered at the shoulders and tapered to points over her hands. Her veil of Brussels lace, which was first worn by the bridegroom’s grandmother 110 vears ago, was held in place with three white gardenias. She carried a sheaf of white chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern. The Attendant The bridesmaid was Miss Joyce Howlett, of Rotorua, sister of the bride. She wore a frock of lotus blue chiffon over taffeta, the full skirt being gathered at the waistline. The bodice was fashioned with a square neckline, and a panel of ruching inset in the front, the short sleeves being also ruclied up the centre to the shoulder line. She wore a spray of pink carnations in her hair and carried a bouquet of pink carnations and maidenhair fern. The best man was Mr V. Hawkins, brother of the bridegroom. After the ceremony, a reception was held at the residence of Mr and Mrs F. G. G. lluse, Te Aroha Street, the guests being received by Miss A. D. Howlett, sister of the bride, who wore a brown tailored costume with matching accessories. She was assisted by Mrs P. Hawkins wearing a brown ensemble with matching accessories. When Mr and Mrs R. T. Iclf by car for the honeymoon the bride travelled in a brown tailored suit with a brown felt hat and accessories to tone. They will make their home in Broadwood. McLEOD—GREENHALGH IVORY STIFFENED NET The marriage was solemnised at St. Peter's Church, Cambridge, recently, between Winifred, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs T. R. Greenhalgh, of Cambridge, and Harry, younger son of Mr and Mrs \Y. J. McLeod, of Cambridge. The Rev. Father Sheely was the officiating minister, and Miss D. Plescher played the wedding music. Miss Jean McLeod, sister of the bridegroom, sang a sacred solo. Wearing a gown of ivory stiffened net over matching satin, the bride entered the church with her father. The bouffant skirt of her frock was gathered at the waist and banded with three rows of narrow satin ribbon, the bodice being fashioned with a net bolero edged with satin ribbon and finished with full puff sleeves, and a high neckline trimmed with small buttons. She wore a veil of ivory net appliqued in satin and held to the head by a halo of orange blossom, and she carried a Victorian posy of white chrysanthemums, lilliains and maidenhair fern. The bridesmaid, Miss Doreen Hubbard, wore a l'ruck ol' clover chiffon fashioned with a draped bodice and suuray pleated skirt- Her shoulderlength veil was held in place by a bandeau of silver leaves, and she wore clover mittens. Her bouquet was of clover chrysanthemums with trails of silver ribbon. Mr H. Greenhalgh attended as best man and -Messrs T. and VV. Greenhalgh were the ushers at the church. The Reception After the ceremony a reception was held at the Triangle Tea Rooms. The tables had been charmingly decorated in llowers of clover and white shades. Mrs T. 13. Greenhalgh, wearing a frock of beech brown lace and a fur coat, received the guests. She carried a posy of autumn flowers. Mrs \V. J. McLeod wore a navy suit, furs, and a navy hat, and she carried autumnshaded flowers. The bride’s grandmother, Mrs Marbeck, of Auckland, was wearing a navy costume and matching hat. She carried a bouquet of autumn-toned flowers. When Mr and Mrs H. McLeod left for the honeymoon, the bride travelled in an airforce blue coat with a navy hat and accessories.
