Age limits 18 to 23 years. Knowledge of cooking and baking is desirable but not essential. ASSISTANT STEWARD OR BOY STEWARD. 6 vacancies for 12 years’ continuous service for Assistant Steward. Age limits 18 to 23 yearrf. 12 years’ continuous service from age 18 for Boy Steward. Age limits 16 to 18 years. Candidates are required to pass a test in reading, writing and simple arithmetic. Candidates must be competent at one of the following trades: Fitter, Fitter and Turner, Coppersmith, Boilermaker or Enginesmith. Search for Radio Disturbance The end of a fortnight's search for a major radio disturbance which was fast reducing New Plymouth listeners to frenzy was reached with attention to a street lamp holder near the post office, Queen street. “A spark the size of a pin's head can cause intense radio interference in all parts of the borough,” said Mr L. Birch, radio inspector at New Plymouth for the Post and Telegraph Department, in announcing the successful conclusion of the search.
