WAITING WIVES AND MOTHERS (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyrig&w LONDON, June 4 Many relatives of the men entombed in the Thetis refused to abandon hope uud waited at Cammell Laird's offices all Friday night. The strain of waiting affected wives and mothers and as the hours wore on ambulances were frequently culled in to restore pathetic sufferers. Relatives who had gone home at dawn received telegrams Irom Cammell Laird and Company a few hours later, asking them to return to the office. Upon assembly, they were informed that the firm regretted that it could not hold out hope of safoLy lor the remainder of the men. Distressing scenes followed, women fainting and others weeping upon the shoulders of strangers. The 8.8.C.'s religious service it the commencement of the day’s broadsasting included prayers f"r those cn;ombed and their relatives. ,
