Cody right) LONDON, June 3 Playing at Berlin in the European zone seini-final of the Davis Cup contest Menzel (Germany) defeated Hare (Britain), 6—o, 6 —l, the latter being forced to retire owing to an attack of lumbago. Henkel (Germany; defeated Shayes (Britain), 6 —2, 6 —3, 6 —l. In the semi-final at Zagreb Puncec (Yugoslavia) defeated Lacroise (Belgium), I—6, 6 —3, 6—3, 7—5, and Mitic (Yugoslavia) defeated Geelhand (Belgium), 6—l, 6—4, 6—l.
