MORRINSVILLE MARKET LATE RATEB MAINTAINED j At the weekly Morrinsville stock sale held yesterday, good markets prevailed, late rates being well maintained. A complete clearance was effected in all departments of the sale. The auctioneers’ report as follows: Loan and Mercantile Agency A full yarding of cattle came forward which comprised mostly fat and store Jersey cows. The market throughout was good and late rates were well maintained and a complete clearance was effected. A medium yarding of dairy cattle came forward these meeting with good competition, and here again prices were satisfactory to vendors. Fat Jersey and Shorthorn cows made £4 to £4 18s; medium fat Jersey cows, £3 5s to £3 12s 6d; good boner cows, £2 15s to £3 2s 6d; medium boners, £2 5s to £2 12s 6d; light boner cows, 30s to £2 2s; good young dairy cows, £7 16s to £8 10s; medium dairy cows, £6 5s to £7 10s; backward sorts, £3 to £5 15s; backward dairy heifers, £3 10s to £6 ss. Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd. An average yarding of cattle was offered. Keen competition resulted in good prices for beef, boner cattle being firm at late rates. Fat heifers made £6 10s to £6 19s; fat Jersey cows, £4 to £4 10s; lighter, to £3 18s; heavy boner cows, £3 5s to £3 12s; lighter, £2 15s to £3; rough sorts, £1 17s to £2.

CLEARING SALES TUHIKARAMEA VALUES Messrs. G. W. Vercoe and Co., Ltd. report having held a clearing sale on behalf of Mr A. Welham, at Tuhikaramea, on Wednesday. The attendance was a large one and the herd, consisting entirely of Shorthorn cows, met with a good demand and a satisfactory clearance resulted. The usual farm sundries sold readily at late clearing sale rates. Good quality Shorthorn cows (in milk) sold up to £10; others, to £6 15s; good quality Shorthorn cows (July calvers), £8 to £9 15s; good quality later calvers, £7 to £7 15s; aged and unsound cows, to £6 10s; good quality Shorthorn heifers (August calvers), £6 15s to £7; small, to £5; Shorthorn steer calves, 365; Shorthorn bulls, to £6 ss. Two stacks of hay containing approximately 10 tons each realised £3O 10s each. AT TAMAHERE The same auctioneers report having held a clearing sale on account of Mr R. Watkinson, of Tamahere, on Thursday, when the herd came forward in good condition. Bidding throughout was steady and all sound and early calving cows sold well, while and inferior sorts were dull of sale. backward, £6 10s to £7 15s; aged and backward cows, £5 to £6; sows in pig, to £4; small store pigs, 13s. DISPERSAL SALE, ROTORANGI Messrs. Newton King, Limited, report holding a successful dispersal sale at Rotorangi yesterday, when they offered Mr William F. Duncan’s herd of 110 grade second-calving cows. The. cattle came forward in splendid order and met with extremely spirited competition from a large and representative bench of buyers, the whole offering averaging £lO 16s. Early calving cows sold from £l2 to £l4; others, from £lO to £ll 10s; later calvers, £8 10s to £10; calved cows met with free competition, selling from £8 10s to £ll 10s Great interest was evinced in the offering of sows, competition being particularly spirited. Maiden sows sold from £6 to £6 17s; others, from £5 to £6; a pedigree Devon boar brought £6 6s, with small stores to 17s 6d. The entry of horses sold readily, a 7-year gelding realising £34, with a 5-year gelding £29. Implements and sundries sold freely at late clearing sale rates. The whole offering was put through in three hours, this speaking volumes for the arangements made for the sale.

TE AWAMUTU STOCK SALE The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, report at their three-weekly Te Awamutu stock sale there was a good yarding of sheep, which met steady competition from a large bench of buyers. The majority of the offering was the advertised breeding ewes on account of Mr L. J. Hastings. Bidding for these was steady, and a total clearance effected at satisfactory prices. A small offering of mutton and tillable lambs was absorbed at export values. Cattle: There was a medium entry of beef, and a good yarding of store "and Doner cows, with bidding on all classes steady and prices in the beef and boner section firm on late rates. Store cattle were also in good demand and sold at satisfactory prices. Dairy cattle: A full entry, including the advertised lines. The herds created spirited bidding from a large bench of buyers. The herd on account of Mr J. \V. WakefTeld, Roto-o-rangi, averaged £8 13s, but ouyers were not so keen on Jersey heifers, the tops of a l.ne of 50 well-grown forward Taranaki heifers being passed in at. £9 Pigs: A small yarding of both fat and store pigs met steady bidding, a total r tearing in both sections resulting. of the offering, sold at values on a par with Frankton quotations, while a brisk demand existed for good quality store pigs. The herd came forward in good condition, and for quality early calvers bidding from a representative bench or buyers was keen, but older and unsound cows were not in demand.
