IMPROVEMENT IN PRICES MARKET FIRM AND ACTIVE AUCKLAND, Saturday Advices from 'London state that prices for New Zealand butter continue to improve, and there lias been a further advance of 5s during the past week. Choicest salted is now quoted at 114 s per cwt., a rise of 9s In the past fortnight. The market is firm and active. Cheese values have risen in sympathy on a firmer market. New Zealand white and coloured are both 3s 6d higher at 53s to 54s per cwt. Recent quotations and those of a year ago compare as follows: June 2 May 2 6 June 3

The present price of 114 s is equal to approximately 13.58 d per lb., f.0.b., New Zealand ports, compared with the guaranteed price of 14.89 d per lb., f.o.b. The London equivalent of the guaranteed price is 124 s 3d per cwt. The equivalent price of cheese is about 5.85 d per lb., f.0.b., compared with the guaranteed price of 8.42 d.
