N.Z RESTRICTIONS
EXCHANGE CONTROL MR NASH IN LONDON TRADE AND FINANCE (United Press Assn.—Eiec. Tel. Copyright) LONDON, June 2 In a leading article on the mission of Mr Walter Nash, New Zealand Minister of Finance, the Times says trade and financial discussions are likely to present difficulties. Many British manufacturers resent exchange control as a violation of the Ottawa agreement, it is believed* tiiat it will break down and cause a tjood deal of mischief. Manufacturers are not satisfied by the assurances of the Prime Minister, Mr Savage, and Mr Nash that the reduction of-trade is not permanent. It is not denied that New Zealand has the right to adopt any economic system he desires, but it is contended that she should have greater regard for the interests and treaty rights of her best customer. Controversy has not improved New Zealand's credit in the London market and Mr Nash is likely to And difficulty in negotiating the conversion of the ill 7,000,000 loan on favourable terms.
