JUNIOR LEAGUE

SOCIETY FOR THE PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALB. I will try to make any animal I have In my care very happy.

Dear Boys and Girls, A few days ago I was listening- to a very interesting conversation between two people, and one sentence impressed me so mucb I found myself repeating it long arter; it was this: “We are only remembered by wbat we have done.” f thought about it, and how very true it is. Some people pass through this world and are quite forgotten immediately they have gone. Some commit some terrible act, which so horriiies people, that they are long remembered. Others do something great and good, so that they are remembered because of their good deeds. How many or us will be remembered by what we have done. Let us see to it that we leave behind a record of which we might be proud. Have you ever read about Saint Francis of Assisi? some holiest among saints; his fame is all on account of *bis regard for all animal life.

one writing - of him said he was one of the Francis was born in 1182 and died in 1226. He was the son of a wealthy merchant. He was educated by the priests or Assisi. He was always elegantly dressed, and he took part In all the gaitles, and sports of the town, but with all his pleasures he gave a great deal or money to charities *and was always saddened by suffering of any kind. When he was about 2u a war broke out, and he was taken prisoner and remained in captivity for a year. This was followed by a long illness, and during this period his whole life was changed; from a life of amusement he turned to a high and holy career, it Is said that the charm of his personality lay in his love for all living creatures. .Next week 1 will tell you more about Saint Francis. My love to you all. TINKERBELL.
