APPEAL TO BE LODGED IMPORT REGULATIONS SUPREME COURT JUDGMENT GOVERNMENTS’ DECISION WELLINGTON, Saturday The Attorney-General, the Hon. G. R. Mason, stated tc-day that consideration has been given to the judgment of Mr Justice Cal'.an in the tee! case brought by E. Jackson and Co., of Auckland, against the Collector of Cu/v----toms, for wrongful detention of imported goods under the import con* trol regulations, and it has been decided to appeal to the Court of Appeal. Art application for a fixture for hearing the appeal will be made to the next sitting of the Court of Appeal at Wellington, which will commence on June 12. SUBMARINE TRAGEDY NINETY MEN STILL ABOARD RESCUE OPERATIONS DELAYED LONDON. June 3 Rescue operations on the sunken submarine Thetis, with 90 men aboard, have been abandoned till dawn. SAILORS STILL ALIVE? NOISES IN SUBMARINE LONDON, Juno 3. The Admiralty announced that divers reported faint tappings from the submarine Thetis at 2 a.m.. indicating that there is still life aboard. Salvage operations are being resumed and a further attempt is being made to raise the stern as soon ac slack water permits. Slack water is at 6 a.m. and no further reports are expected before then.
