THAMES VALLEY DRAINAGE BOARD (Special to Times.) TE AROHA, Thursday Mr F. E. Hughes presided at to-day’s meeting of the Thames Valley Drainage Board. In reply to the board’s letter regarding the clearing of blackberries in connection with which Government Inspectors had served notices on several owners, and the suggestion that the board's foreman be appointed inspector of noxious weed®, the .Minister of Agriculture advised that the po.wer to appoint inspectors applied principally to counties. The Maiainata and Hauraki Pains county councils already had inspectors appointed, and ir the Drainage Board could make satisfactory arrangements with these counties he would be prepared to consider the appointment or an inspector for the Piako County. It was decided to act on the Minister’s suggestion, as the growth of blackberry interfered materially with tbe clearing of the drains under the hoard’s jurisdiction. Cost of Fire Brigade The estimated cost of the Te Aroha Fire Brigade to the Fire Board for 193w-iu is estimated at £lB9 18s. The borough council’s contribution will be the same as last year, while the sum of £4O will he received from the Government.
