On May 28 Thomas Edward Guerin (Eddie Guerin), aged 77 years, who achieved notoriety 34 years ago as the first man to escape from Devil’s island, pleaded not guilty to a charge of frequenting Epsoin Downs with the intention of committing a felony. Guerin said: “I escape from Devil’s Island, but why should that follow me all my life. 1 have been straight for two years.”
