BATTERY DANCE

UNIFORMS IN EVIDENCE MANY DANCERS ATTEND It is seldom that men's attire vies in colourfulness with that of their partners. but such was the case last earning when the officers, N.G.O.’s and men of the 2nd Medium Battery, X.Z.A.. held a successful and very enjoyable dance in the Regent Ballroom. The Air Force and the Navy also were well represented, many visitors being present. A smart and attractive military air was lent to the ballroom by the charming arrangement of myriads of tiny Union Jacks, which outlined the supper balcony snd the stage, and hung in effective design across the hall. Multi-coloured streamers added a gay note to the scene and a soft light was shed on the happy throng of dancers from the Chinese lanterns overhead. Bed, white and blue lights illuminated the stage, which was banked with masses of lovely pastel hydrangeas and autumn leaves. An autumn colour scheme was used in the supper balcony decorations, where graduated bowls of vivid Iceland poppies, salvia, and chrysanthemums charmingly arranged with greenery. adorned the tables. # The success of the dance reflects great credit upon those who handled lhe arrangements for the function, and upon the willing and efficient ladies’ committee, who were responsible for the floral decorations and the serving of a delicious supper. Excellent music was supplied by George Brown and his Regent Dance Band, the dances being enthusiastically encored. Reception of Guests The guests were received by Major E. F. Clayton-Greene, U.8.K., and by Mrs Clayton-Greene, who was wear* j ing a charming Victorian frock of ! powder blue taffeta and a white fur I cape.
