NEW ZEALAND BANK NOTEB CIRCULAR TO BRITISH BANKS (Special to Times) WELLINGTON. Wednesday The following circular, which has been sent to all Scottish banks, was shown to a New Zealand resident who has just arrived in Edinburgh:— “We are advised by the Rank of New Zealand that the obligations of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand to sell sterling in exchange for its notes is withdrawn. New Zealand notes can no longer be sold to or collected through the New Zealand banks, and. as it may be difficult to dispose of them otherwise—even at lis to 15s New’ Zealand—any New Zealand notes presented should be accepted for sale only on the understanding that the London office will dispose of them if they are able to find a buyer.” The person who was shown the circular said that in Southampton an acquaintance of his was able to obtain only £i in English money in exchange for £1 10s in New Zealand notes.
