PINEDALE STUD SALE YOUNG BULLS SELL WELL ACTIVE REQUEST FOR HELPERS A feature of the annual sale of the Pinedale Milking Shorthorn Stud, the property of Messrs G. D. Hall and Son, of Kio Kio, held at the Claudelands Selling pavilion yesterday, was the offering of the progeny of the imported bull, Martha Vale Cloister. Bulls by this s re sold up to 55gns., while the top price of the day was 64gps., this being given for a yearling son of the Royal Show champion. Waimea Senor. Heifers also sold well, ranging in price from 10 to 38gns. The sale was conducted by the Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, with Mr F. Harkness in the rostrum.

The offering came forward in excellent condition and comprised one 3-year-old bull, one 2-year-old bull, 17 yearling bulls and 15 rising 2-year-old heifers. All were splendidly bred sorts and combined type with constitution.

Bidding started at 40 gns on Pinedale Senor, the smart looking yearling son of Waimea Senor and Terrace View Minnie, and soon reached 64gns., when it was knocked down to Mr R. D. Cochrane, of Kereone. Himself a prolific prize-winner as a calf, Pinedale Senor was the star lot of the offering and boasted a wealth of the well-known Matangi blood on both sides of his pedigree. Martha Vale Sons Although some were inclined to he a little on the.plain side, the sons nf Martha Vale Cloister, imported from Tasmania by Mr Hall, attracted Keen attention. The first to be led into the ring, Pinedale Pearl s Goldmine, a ;i----year-old out of Pinedale Pearl, sold to Messrs Hansen Brothers, of Helensville, at 33gns. The next, a two-year-old from the successful show-ring performer, Pinedale Matchless, in Pinedale Matchless 3rd’s Cloister, was obtained by Messrs Cumpstone Brothers, of Kio Kio, for 55gns., the second best money of the day. The best price for a yearling son of Martha Vale Cloister, 41 gns.. was given by Mr J. McPherson, of WelJsford. for Pinedale Stylish Lilac’s Cloister, an attractive sort out of Pinedale Stylish Lilac, a noted prizewinner. Mr J. McCraith, of Dargaville, gave 35$gns for another yearling son ay the imported sire in Pinedale Matchless Cloister, who is from Pinedale Matchless, prominent producer and show-ring performer. Other yearling sons of Martha Vale Cloister were traded from 11 to 30 guineas. The top money for heifers, 38gns., was obtained for Pinedale Silver Lilac, a likely looking 2-year-old by the outstanding sire, Pinedale Quality Lady, and from Pinedale Stylish Lilac. The buyer was the Taranaki breeder, Mr c. F. Handcock. Sale Details Following are sale details :—Yearling bulls.—Pinedale Rona, to W. R. Prendergast, Pokeno, 14$gns; Pinedale Matchless, N.Z.
