REVIVAL OF POSTS INSPECTORS-GENERAL MILITARY PREPAREDNESS (Official Wireless) (Received June 1. 11.30 a.m.) RUGBY, May 31 The War Office announces that in order to forward the military preparedness of the Army, the numerical strength of which is increasing very rapidly, the Government has decided, with the King's approval, to revive, with certain modifications, two posts of Inspectors-General. The Inspector-General of the Overseas Forces will be responsible for the inspection of the higher training of the Regular and Territorial Field Armies, for the inspection of the oversea garrisons under the control of the War Office, for consultation by arrangement with the Government of India and the India Office on matters of higher training with the Indian military authorities, for liaison with foreign staffs, and for the co-ordina-tion of all training preparations for the dispatch of an expeditionary force as directed by the Army Council. The Inspector-General of the Home Forces will be responsible for the inspection of the militia and regular troops and Territorial Army units. In addition he will make himself acquainted with the command of the home defence schemes and maintain touch with the civilian authorities responsible for air raid precaution duties and with the regional commissioners. The New Appointments The King has approved of the following appointments:— Inspector-General of the Overseas Forces: Lieutenant-General Sir E. Ironside. Inspector-General of the Home Forces: General Sir Walter Kirke. Adjutant-General to the Forces: Lieutenant-General Sir Robert Gordon Fin lays on. General Officer Commanding in Chief of British Troops in Egypt: .MajorGeneral 11. M. Wilson.
