THE TIME TO FIGHT NUFFIELD CONFIDENT VISIT TO NEW ZEALAND (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received June 1, 11.45 a.m.) LONDON, May 31 “If any nation wants to fight now Is the time,” declared Lord Nuffield, who was the guest of the New Zealand Society at luncheon. He added: “I cannot conceive anybody so foolish as to generate war at this moment, but I am able to reveal that Britain is ready to meet any contingency. I only hope that after the lesson of last September we will preserve such a strong position that we will be able to prevent other countries from molesting small people."
Replying to a tribute by Mr W. Jordan, High Commissioner, for his gifts to New Zealand, Lord Nuffield
lid: “If I had not done what I have would have been lacking in what I lould have done for my fellows.”
Lord Nuffield revealed that he is going to New Zealand for the seventh time as soon as possible. Mr Jordan announced that Lord Nuffield accepted membership of the Society with the words: “Yes, I feel almost a New Zealander.”
