KENWORTHY WINS BOLD VENTURE AGAIN MISHAP IN SUBURBAN HANDICAP The winter meeting of the Auckland Trotting Club concluded at, Alexandra Park. Epsom, yesterday under ideal weather conditions, racing throughout being of an interesting standard, although the Suburban Handicap was marred through an incident entering the straight where four horses fell and one driver was admitted to hospital with a broken collarbone. Kenworthy finished very attractively in the big race to win nicely from the Hamilton representative, Bed Flush, while in the principal trotting event Within and Black Native, who were clear of the field throughout, fought out a keen finish for the favourite Within to outstay her companion over the deciding furlong. Mangere. Black Native made a determined bid to win Trom end to end but a lapse near the •straight entrance put the seal on his chances. However, he settled down again j' and did well to beat all but Within, who followed him throughout. Llanvabon was |f moving up smartly a couple oi rurlongs from home when he tangled and settled bl* chance. Black Native began smartly and by the time the field had settled down was out some 50 yards from Within, Pick Redmond, Fleet Arrow, Big Kauri, Autumn Lou and Llanvabon. With hair a mile covered Black Native was still bowling along freely In front and at the mile he was neveral lengths clear of Within, with Big kauri. Fleet Arrow, Llanvabon. Autumn Lou and Dick Redmond the handiest of the others. Along the back the last time Black Native and Within still held a commanding break on the field and thej ranie into the straight on terms in front o f Bfg Kauri and Llanvabon. Within won bv two lengths from Black Native with Big Kauri three and a-lialf lengths away tnlrd. Llanvabon was a neck away fourth followed by Gay Moko, Decoy Bird, Can artian, Dick Redmond, Fleet Arrow’ and Win Huon. Times 4.51 3-5, 4.53 1-5, 4.50 4 5, 4.50. There was a general mlx-up as the Held was entering the straight in the Suburban Handicap, Shrewdie falling when slightly In rront and bringing down in the melee that ensued. Francisco. Bed Frontier and Luminate. E. N. Kennerley, the driver of Shrewdy, receiving a broken collarbone. Lucky Love began quickly to lead out from Resistance, Peter Smith. Gold Circle and True Trust. Peter Smith moved through within a couple of furlongs and passing the stands was followed by True Trust, pop Eye, Red Frontier, who was moving up fast, Resistance. Gold Circle and Fran cisco. Red Frontier took the lead along the bark where Francisco had run up prominently. Resistanre and Pop Eye being the closest of the others. Shrewdie, and Red Frontier were leading at the turn when the former Tell and put a number out or the running, Bold Venture doing best in the straight to score Trom Three Bells with Vanora third and Transwell at the head or the others. Winner trained by owner, Tamahere. The brilliant L'enuku, who was at oddson. dirt not take long to reach the front and from then on he set a merry pace to win in attractive style. Kenworthy was always well up and he hung on tenaciously to beat all but the favourite. Star Pronto led early but within a couple of furlongs L'enuku had taken charge and passing the stands was followed by R'pnwortby, Star Pronto. Great Chum, Fernbrook Lass, Parauri, Kewpie's King and Bayard. As they raced along the back there was little alteration and l'enuku was a couple or lengths clear or Kenworthy across the top with Star Pronto and Compass following, and Great Chum and Parauri the closest of the remainder. L'enuku was still clear at the straight entrance and carried on to win well from Kenworthy with Kewpie’s King third and Great Chum Tourth. Then followed Star Pronto, Compass. Parauri, Fernbrook Lass and Bayard. Times, 2.47, 2.46 2-5, 2.47 4-5, 2.49. BIG INCREASE TOTALISATOR RETURNS An Increase of £21,625 10s was shown in the totalisator returns at the Auckland Trotting Club’s winter meeting at Epsom.
