YOUNG FARMERS
RURAL COURSE CONTINUED INTERESTING LECTURES GIVEN The secondary school boys’ rural course at tlie Winter Show was continued yesterday, when a further series of lectures on farming matters was delivered. Mr Walker, of the Department of Agriculture, spoke on the aims and objects of young farmers’ clubs. An interesting address on the manufacture and use of fertiliser was given by Mr W. Alexander, and Mr T. E. Rodda, of the Ruakura Farm of Instruction, spoke on farm shelter. Mr F. <». Knight, of the New Zealand Go-operative Herd Testing Association, gave a talk on the evolution of the dairy cows.
During the day the boys inspected the bacon display. Demonstrations of grading methods were given bv .Messrs M. J. Scott, Wellington Superintendent of tlie Pig Industry; F. .\ier-
ritt. Auckland, Supervising Grader of the New Zealand Meat Board: 1L M. Peirson, Wellington. Pig Extension officer; G. P. Harrington Supervising officer of the Waikato Pig Council; H. W. Mclntosh. Christchurch; K. P. Neilson, Palmerston North; and J. Been berg. Wiiakatano.
The boys were accompanied by Mr J. Ballard on a lour of examination of the prize winning exhibits in the farm crops division.
