TE RAPA GALLOPS

PUKEKOHE CANDIDATES BEVERAL USEFUL EFFORTB KITTLE’S SMART FIVE (By “Martian”) The course proper 40ft. out from the rails, and the plough were available for galloping at Te Rapa this morning when a number of candidates for the approaching Franklin Racing Club’s fixture at Pukekohe were sent along. Several useful efforts were recorded, the best of the morning on the course proper being five furlongs by Kittle and three by Raceline, while on the plough those to shape best were Friskland and Bronze Step. On the course proper two unnamed maidens by Acre were associated over half-a-milc, cutting out the distance in 54 4-ss. Forest Lake (Gollop) was doing slightly better than Rothoon (Goulsbro) over the concluding stages of six furlongs in 1.21 4-ss, the’ first half-mile being cut out in 545. Forest Lake, who has been racing over hurdles of late, is making good progress. Senacre (Long) and Star Bright (McLaughlin) got to the end of five furlongs in 1.9 1-5, their first halfmile occupying 55$s. Kittle Shapes Well Kittle (McKenzie), who is to contest the Bombay Handicap (6 furlongs) at Pukekohe on Saturday, was sent over five furlongs, being assisted over the first, half-mile by Trig Station (W. Thomson). Trig Station took the lead early but Kittle had his measure at the half-mile in 52s and she carried on alone to record 1.6 for the full distance. Kittle, who has been racing over the obstacles recently shaped in pleasing style and will bear watching in engagements ahead. A smart three furlongs along the back was credited to Raceline (Gollop) who dashed over the distance in 36is, the first two furlongs being run in 24$s. Raceline is carrying a bright appearance and is not without prospects in the Dynes Fulton Memorial Handicap at Pukekohe on Saturday. Tosh (Watson) strode along at strong three-quarter pace and is looking none the worse for recent racing. •Gay Poto (W. Thomson) ran to the half-mile in 55Js. Mio Fratollo (McKenzie), Foxen (Long) and Tassau (Hain) got to the end of half-a-mile in 545. The only other gallop on this track was that of Lornacre (Long), who traversed six furlongs in 1.21. his first half-mile being covered in 55$ s. Lornacre is to race at the Pukekohe meeting where he will have the services of the local light-weight, H. Long. A Smart Five-furlongs On the plough, Friskland (Long) and Bronze Step (Goulsbro) were companions over five furlongs in 1.4, their first half-mile being run in 51 l-ss. This was the best of the morning over the distance and both pleased by the manner in which they were revelling in their work over the concluding stages. Olympus (Long) ran six furlongs In 1.19 4-ss, his first half-mile in 545. Olympus, who looks all the better for racing at the Te Aroha fixture, was under a firm hold in the early stages and could have improved on the time. Irish Belle (Jones) ran to the fivefurlong peg in 1.8. Among those to be allotted strong pace work on the plough were Bryce Street, Rollicker, Respectful and Stansted. Innes Lad (Muir) was-schooled over two hurdles along the back and gave a solid display. Riding Engagements Riding engagements for the Pukekohe meeting include:— W. H. Jones. —Poland Rothoon. J.
