Datable)-, the Premier, has offered Marshal Petain the Ambassadorship to General Franco’s Government for a provisional period of three months. In view of his age (82) he will be accompanied by professional diplomatists who will relieve him of specialised tasks. M. Daladier believes that the respect due to a distinguished career will make him an invaluable representative at a' critical period. Marshal Petain will reply tomorrow.
