GISBORNE REALISATIONS DEMAND FOR SHEEPSKINS (Special to Times) GISBORNE, Wednesday A fairly large catalogue was offered at a wool oddments and skin sale held in Gisborne yesterday. Offerings totalled 928 blaes, 18 fadges and 40 bags of wool, 5739 sheepskins and 145 hides. The usual bench of buyers was present, including representatives from Auckland, Wellington, Hawke’s Bay and Gisb-orne Arms. The wool catalogue was made up mainly of oddments, such as pieces, bellies and locks, while there was also a small quantity of straggler fleece, dead wool and crutchings. Pieces were mainly of secondary type and sold at from s*d to 7d per lb. Only average lots of crutchings came forward, selling from 5Ad to. 7id. Ranges of other types of wool were: Locks, 4d to 4Ad; straggler fleece, 7d to BAd; dead wool, 7d to Bd. There was a keen sale for sheepskins, the demand being particularly for woolly skins, and values showed an improvement on recent sales. Prices ranged from Gd to Bd.
