THREAT OF STRIKE
PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALLERS DEMAND FOR HIGHER PAY BONUSES AND INSURANCES (Independent Cable) (Received March 1 11.25 a.m.) LONDON, Feb. 28 The players’ Union, representing over 60 per cent of the professional footballers in England, resolved to call a strike on a secret date unless players receive a minimum of £4 a week throughout the year and a maximum of £9 a week during the football season instead of £8 as at present, also increased bonuses and the insurance of each player against injury for £IOOO.
