MATANGI CROQUET CLUB OPENING DAY The Matangi Croquet Club held its opening day recently in beautiful weather, there being a large attendance of members and visitors. After extending a welcome to the visitors, the president, Mrs Allwood, thanked ill the voluntary helpers who had made it possible to start a croquet club in Matanjgi. and expressed the hope that the club would have a successful season. She then hit the first ball and declared the green open for play. Competitions were arranged for the afternoon, the winners being: Ladder competition. Mrs A. McClennan 1, Mrs McKendry. 2: drop ball, Mrs Cave 1, Mrs Allwood, 2; crazy croquet, Mrs Windsor i, Mrs McClennan, 2. A delicious afternoon tea was served by the ladies. Those present were:—Mesdames J. Allwood, Windsor, Wainwright, A. McClennan, C. L. French, T. Shaw. Olsen, Cave (Franlfon . Ellice, McKendry, B. Hogan, W. Robinson, Russell, Jamieson, If. Thompson, R.
