TELEPHONE CIRCUITS
HAMILTON IMPROVEMENTS COMMUNICATION WITH SOUTH An imporiant section of the Post and Telegraph Departments programme of improvements on Imporiant telephone routes was completed at the end of last week, when a new direct circuit between Wellington and Hamilton, and one hetwren Napier and Hamilton, were brought into operation for 101 l purposes. The new circuits are the result of the installation of additional carrier current telephone equipment at the places named. This latest addition to the toll system should have a very noticeable effect on much of the North Island lonf-'-distanee toll tralllr. The new W ellington-Hamiiton circuit makes the second direct channel between ihese two places, while ihere lias not hitherto been a direct circuit between Napier and Hamilton. Resides the accelerated toll service that will be afforded calls between the terminal places of eaclt of the new circulta. t lie new channels should relieve to an appreciable extent traffic on other arterial circuits owing to the elimination of a good deal of switching.
