WEST COAST COMPANY FINED (By Telegraph.—Press Association) GREYMOUTH, Monday In the Magistrate's Court to-day A. R. Wallis, Ltd., of Kopara, was fined £lO for allowing sawdust to flow into the Haupiri River. Defendants were similarly lined in December, 1937. On behalf of defendants it was stat ■ ed a flume built to carry the sawdust over the river was washed away thrice bv floods. It was replaced twice but could not be installed a third time owing to the shortage of labour.
