TALLOW AND HEMP THE ENGLISH MARKETS (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Tuesday The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London, dated February 24: Tallow: The market is steady. Present quotations are:—Mutton, fine 24s 6d to 255; good, 21s to 21s 6d; fair, 16s 6d to 17s. Beef, fine 20s 6d to 21s; good, 18s: fair, 16s to 16s 6d. Mixed, good 18s; fair, 16s to 16s 6d; gut, 13s 6d to 15s 6d. Mutton, dark to dull. 14s 6d to 16s 6d. Beef, dark to dull. 13s 6d to 15s 6d. Hemp: —Manila: The market is quiet but steady, with little more interest shown. Closing value February/April shipment £l7 10s. Sisal: The market is dull and easier; closing sellers February/April shipment 12s 6d. New Zealand: Reported owing to lack of stocks.
