SYSTEMATIC THIEVING
FORMER DEPARTMENTAL MANAGER FOUR MONTHS’ DETENTION (By Telegraph.—Press Association) DUNEDIN, Monday Irvine Watson Cowie was to-day sentenced to four months’ reformative detention for the theft of goods valued at £22 from Bing, Harris and Company in whose warehouse he was a departmental manager. Rejecting counsel’s plea for probation on the ground that, the offences synchronised with the onset of disease, the magistrate said that i-t was systematic thieving over a period. Information concerning Ihe medical aspect could be placed before a board.
