MATAMATA SPORTS GALA

MONSTER CARNIVAL ARRANGED WHEELMEN & ATHLETES IN ACTION An indication of the enterprise of Matamata sportsmen is the arranging of a monster sports carnival at Bedford Park on Saturday, March 25. Wheelmen, who have gained prominence in the major sporting fixtures of the province, will be seen in action, while athletes, who have made names for themselves when pitted against the strongest opposition, will take part. In addition to the principal athletic events novelty Hems have been arranged and these should prove popular amongst the public. Matamata has long been prominent for its highly successful sporting fixtures and it is anticipated that the latest effort will ne no exoeption to the rule. Bedford Park provides aa Ideal setting for a carnival of. this nature and with so many prominent sportsmen taking part, the public should he treated to an exhibition ranking with anything seen in any other town the size of Matamata. In past years galas of this nature have been well supported and have been notable for the fine organisation of those responsible for their success. The gathering- set down for March 25 should laok nothing so far as entertainment is concerned.
