FLOWER SHOW
HAMILTON EXHIBITION PINE DISPLAY PROMISED The autumn show held by the Hamilton Horticultural Society is generally considered one of the most beautiful of the series during the year. • In spite of a backward season, there Is every indication that the show on Thursday and Friday at the Alexandra Hall will be of the same high standard that has characterised the society’s fixtures. Dahlias will be the main attraction and keen competition is expected in the cup classes which comprise the open Hamilton Cup. the amateur Caro Cup and the intermediate Elsie Memorial Cup. In addition to dahlias ample provision has been made in the schedule for all seasonal types of cut flowers. Decorative Classes I The decorative classes are also well l provided for, and this beautiful sec- | j tion of floral displays is always popuj lar with the public, more particularly ! as the society is fortunate in attract- ! ing exhibitors" whose work is of a very ! high order. A popular exhibit is that •' of the Women’s Institutes, who com- ! pete annually at the show for a shield ! I donted by the society which last year J was won by the Jubilee Institute. Vegetables and fruit sections are not so ; well supported as they should be, but j the quality generally is good. The j J society would like to see a keener i i interest taken by exhibitors in this ! sections. ! The members of the Gardening ; | Circle of the Waikato Lyceum Club j i are keen supporters of the show, and | j will be staging a particularly good ; | exhibit this year. The show will be j officially opened by the Mayor, Mr 11. D. Caro, on Thursday at 2.30 p.m.
