ARAB REJOICING
SEVERAL TOWNS CELEBRATE OPPOSITION BY THE JEWS UNDERMINE NATIONAL HOME (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received Feb. 27, 1 p.m.) JERUSALEM, Feb. 26 The Arabs held demonstrations of rejoicing at the imminence of an independent Arab State, in the streets of Haifa, Jaffa. Nazareth and Tulkaram. The Jewish Council has issued a statement declaring that the reported proposal to replace the Palestine mandate by an independent Arab State would undermine the Jewish national home. The statement added that the Jews oppose the attempt to impose minority status upon them. Troops arrested 41 Arabs and seized a quantity of firearms.
