BOWLING TOURNEY
HAMILTON CLUB ONE-DAY FIXTURE 24 TEAMS TAKE PART With players from many parts of the South Auckland Bowling Centre taking part, the Hamilton Bowling Club conducted a one-day tournament on its greens to-day. Entries were received from 24 rinks and, with the greens in splendid order, the five rounds of the fixture produced a high standard of bowling. ROTORUA BOWLING
LOCAL TEAMS IN FINAL OPEN PAIRS TITLE TO-DAY (Special to Times) ROTORUA, Saturday There was an unexpected development' in the post section play in the Rotorua Bowling Club’s open pairs tournament yesterday when Livingstone (Onehunga) and Higginbotham (Ponsonby), who had gone through section play unbeaten, and Walker (Auckland) were defeated. The two Rotorua teams, French and Pakes and Rowe and Budd, reached the final, which will be decided today. This is the first time that two Rotorua teams have met in the final of the tournament and Rotorua has never previously won the pairs title.
BOWLING TOUR
SOUTH AUCKLAND PARTY VIS-IT TO TARANAKI CENTRE About 80 bowlers and 35 women from the South Auckland Bowling Centre will arrive in New Plymouth to-morrow evening for a tour of the Taranaki Centre which will extend to March 4. Some members of the South Auckland party, which includes players from clubs as far distant as Rangiriri, Thames, Matamata and Otorohanga, left Hamilton to-day while others will leave this evening or early to-morrow morning.
On Monday the South Auckland players will engage in games at the New Plymouth, Fire Brigade, East End and Vogeltown clubs in the morning while the afternoon programme will be held at the Fitzrov, Paritutu and West End Clubs, sections of the party playing at the different greens.
On Tuesday the clubs in the Hawera district to be visited will be Okato, Warea, Opunake, Rahutu and Pihama. After spending the night at Hawera the tourists will play games at Patea, Manaia, Auro, Hawera Park and Hawera Clubs the following day. Thursday's programme will take the visitors to Eltham, Kaponga, Stratford Avon and the Tariki (Avon) clubs. From there the itinerary provides for the return to New Plymouth with Friday morning free. In the afternoon games will be played at Inglewood, Leperton, Waitara, Urenui, Awakino and -Clifton Park. The final morning, Saturday next, will be spent on a sightseeing tour of New Plymouth, with a re-union game in the afternoon and a social in the evening.
