KITCHEN WRECKED

EXPLOSION IN A BANK BENZINE STOVE RESPONSIBLE (Special to Times) PAPAROA, Friday Exploding like a charge of dynamite, a small benzine stove wrecked the kitchen of the living quarters attached to the Paparoa branch of the National Bank of New Zealand about noon to-day. The noise was heard all over the township. Mrs Wright, wife of the manager, Mr T. W. Wright, had been preparing the mid-day meal, and had left the kitchen, closing the door behind her. About a minute later there was a loud report and the building was shaken as if by an c-arthquake. The windows of the kitchen and adjoining rooms were blown out and pictures were thrown to the floor. On entering the kitchen, Mr and Mrs Wright found that the ceiling had been lifted and one wall blown out. and every movable article in the room had been smashed. The top of the electric stove had been shattered and the wiring broken. Mr Wright stated that he could only suppose that some heat from the electric elements had been communicated to the stove and caused the explosion.
