Copyright) LONDON, Feb. 24 The Italian Foreign Minister, Count Ciano, has gone to Warsaw for talks with Colonel Beck, Foreign Minister of Poland. The Italian press is remarkably silent regarding the visit, confining its statements to: “The visit is intended to prepare the way for further friendship.” It is known, however, that, Count Ciano will sound out Colonel Beck about the possible Polish attitude in the event of a Franco-Italian war, and will also discuss relations with Germany, and Poland’s desire for colonies. It is announced from Berlin that Field-Marshal Goering is going to Italy in the first week in March for a lengthy visit, which will possibly include a trip to Libya. Armed to Capacity A message from Warsaw says It is disclosed that the Nazi-controlled Free City of Danzig is building up a large fleet of small craft, nominally trawlers, but actually armed to capacity and of high speed, which could be used as minelayers or minesweepers. Experts from Germany are training the crews. The Nazi Black Guards’ organ Schwarzekorps, published in Berlin, has a cartoon depicting a bloated John Bull, whose body is represented by a globe of the world, with four waistcoat buttons labelled Malia, Gibraltar, Suez and Singapore, ali strained to bursting-point.
