PAN PACIFIC ASSOCIATION

HAMILTON STUDY GROUP The Hamilton study group in connection with the Pan Pacific Women's Association Conference to be held in Wellington in January 1940, will commence next month. The subjects covered will be Economic . Independence and Cultural Contributions of the Pacific countries. The subscription payable to join this group is 2s 6d and persons desirous of entering are invited to communicate with Mrs J. Ward Chapman, Hukanui Road, Hamilton. MEETING AT TE AROHA WIDE INTEREST TAKEN The monthly meeting of the P.P.W.A. was held on Wednesday, at the home of the president, Miss C. W. Clarke, Herriesville. A brief synopsis of the work to be covered before the forthcoming conference in Wellington in January 1940 was given by the secretary, Mrs H. Rowbotham, the subjects to be studied being Economic Independence and Cultural Contributions of the Pacific countries. The. president read a very interesting article entitled 4k The Asiatics and Ourselves.” This was the first of a series of articles specially prepared for the Pan Pacific Women's Association to be read and discussed at the local meetings. Letters received from the women of Pacific countries show that the keenest interest is being taken in the coming Pan Pacific Women’s Association Conference to be held in New Zealand from January 13 to January--20, 1940. Among the distinguished visitors expected from overseas are Dame Enid Lyons, wife of the Federal Premier of Australia; Mrs Isume GauntLett, of Tckio, Japan: Mrs J. S. Price, International Publicity Office*of the P.P.W.A. and Mrs George Black, F.R.G.S., M.P. from Yukon. It was Gecided to hoid a garden party at Mrs Rowbotham’s residence on March 2.
