WOMEN’S DIVISION

PROVINCIAL EXECUTIVE QUARTERLY MEETING The quarterly meeting of the South Auckland Provincial Executive was held in the Y.M.G.A., Hamilton, on Tuesday, February 21, Mrs Clements presiding. After recital of the Creed, the president welcomed the delegates and expressed sympathy with all who had suffered bereavement during the quarter. Delegates present were: Mesdames Ryburn, Godfrey, Neill, Pegler, Bell, Thomas, Hall, Newdick, Hinton, Eyre, Cooper, Wilis, Empson, Magner, Bromwich, Pulman, Pierce, Galey, Courtney, Windsor, McWhannell and Dr. de la Mare. Apologies were received from Mesdames Woodroffe, Buchley, Pattison, Jenkinson, Mclntosh and Martin. f The housekeeping secretary reported that since November 1, 4.3 positions had been filled by housekeepers in this area. Of these 32 were for members. An appeal was made for housekeepers and it was decided to advertise in the local paper. At present the position is so acute that two housekeepers have had to be borrowed from headquarters. It was proposed and seconded that a letter of congratulation be sent to Mrs Mclntosh upon her appointment as a Justice of the Peace. Remits to go forward to conference were carefully gone through and some which it was considered were local matters and already covered were withdrawn. The plight of starving refugee children was discussed and the advisability of sending regular supplies of food rather than money was stressed. It was decided that should members so desire, South Auckland Provincial would be prepared to receive remittances and arrange for a regular supply of food stuffs to go forward from month to month.
